Alternative Solutions is one of the many programs offered by New Directions providing service to individuals with intellectual disabilities and/or mental health issues in six distinct day program locations. We are currently seeking a regular full-time (40hrs./wk.) Assistant Coordinator for our Kriya Program. Responsibilities Include but are not limited to: Coordination and development of services and treatment plans, counseling, direct service, administration, and providing leadership to staff and participants in a Day Program setting and the surrounding community (8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday to Friday).
Qualifications:
- Applicant must have a D.C.S. or related social service diploma.
- Minimum of 3 years experience working with individuals who have intellectual disabilities, mental health concerns, pervasive developmental disorders, and high behavioural needs.
- Knowledge of Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and Sensory Processing Disorders an asset.
- Supervisory experience an asset.
- Current first aid certificate and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention are required.
- Knowledge in A.S.L. is required (Minimum ASL101 training can be provided to suitable applicant).
- Strong Leadership skills, including good organization and time management.
- Administrative and word processing skills.
- Excellent written and interpersonal skills are required.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and access to a vehicle.
A recent Driver’s Abstract must be provided. The salary range is $35,221 to $49,309 annum based on a 40 hour work week. The successful candidate will be subject to a Criminal Record and Child Abuse Registry check. An excellent benefits package is offered to regular, full time or part time staff.
